Free thyroxine (FT4) represents the unbound, metabolically active fraction of thyroxine hormone in circulation, constituting approximately 0.03% of total thyroid hormone. As the primary hormone produced by the thyroid gland, FT4 regulates cellular metabolism, growth, and development throughout the body. Unlike total thyroxine measurements, FT4 levels provide a more accurate picture of thyroid function since they remain unaffected by variations in thyroid-binding proteins. This makes FT4 an important biomarker in endocrine research and thyroid disorder studies.
The Mouse Free Thyroxine FT4 ELISA Kit (CSB-E05080m) measures FT4 concentrations in mouse serum, plasma, and tissue homogenates. This competitive assay operates within a detection range of 4-64 pmol/L with a sensitivity of 1.08 pmol/L. The kit requires 50-100 μL sample volume and provides results within 1-5 hours using spectrophotometric detection at 450 nm wavelength.
