Description

The Rat Apolipoprotein A-IV (APOA4) ELISA kit is a powerful tool for the quantitative detection of Apolipoprotein A-IV in serum, plasma, and tissue homogenates from Rattus norvegicus (Rat) samples.

This ELISA kit offers a wide detection range of 9.38 ng/mL to 600 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 2.34 ng/mL, enabling precise and accurate quantification of APOA4 in your samples. The assay time is short, ranging from 1 to 5 hours, and requires only a small sample volume of 50-100ul.

The assay principle is a sandwich method, where the APOA4 in the sample is captured by a coated antibody and detected by a biotinylated detection antibody, followed by a streptavidin-HRP conjugate, and finally substrate solution. The signal is detected at a wavelength of 450 nm.

This kit is suitable for research in various areas and is particularly useful for studies involving cancer and metabolism research. The Rat Apolipoprotein A-IV (APOA4) ELISA kit provides reliable and consistent results for your experiments.

Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
May have a role in chylomicrons and VLDL secretion and catabolism. Required for efficient activation of lipoprotein lipase by ApoC-II; potent activator of LCAT. Apoa-IV is a major component of HDL and chylomicrons.
Gene References into Functions
  1. demonstrate a critical role of the PI3K/Akt pathway in apoA-IV's anorectic action in lean rats and suggest a defective PI3K pathway in the ventromedial hypothalamus is responsible for the impaired apoA-IV's anorectic action in the diet-induced obese animals PMID: 29037812
  2. These results suggest that the elevated mRNA expression levels of Rbp2 and Apoa4 in the rats with SB contribute to the effective esterification and transport of vitamin A. PMID: 25585692
  3. Compared to the rats in the control group, the rats in the HF group had the expression levels of 12 genes with significant changes, Agrp, Ghrl, and Nr3c1, Apoa4, Cntf, Ghr, IL-1beta, Ins1, Lepr,Sort, Adcyap1r1 and Adrb1. PMID: 22715380
  4. Nuclear ERalpha is the primary mediator of E2's action on apo A-IV gene expression. PMID: 25051443
  5. Data suggest that apoAIV in NTS (nucleus of the solitary tract) or/and peripheral Cck (cholecystokinin) require vagal Cck1r (cholecystokinin receptor 1) signaling to elicit satiation; high-fat diet reduces satiating capacity of these signals. PMID: 24564397
  6. Octreotide intervention down-regulated expression of apoB mRNA and apoB48 protein, as well as MTP mRNA and proteins. ApoAIV mRNA was not significantly different between obese and octreotide-treated rats. PMID: 23911221
  7. peripheral apo AIV requires an intact CCK system and vagal afferents to activate neurons in the hindbrain to reduce food intake PMID: 23027805
  8. hypothalamic apo A-IV level and food intake were inversely related during the normal diurnal cycle as well as in the period of restricted feeding suggesting that hypothalamic apo A-IV is involved in the regulation of daily food intake. PMID: 15059955
  9. Chronic consumption of a high fat diet significantly reduced apolipoprotein A-IV (apo A-IV) mRNA levels and response of apo A-IV gene expression to dietary lipids in the hypothalamus. PMID: 15082422
  10. apo A-IV released from the intestinal mucosa during lipid absorption stimulates the release of endogenous CCK that activates CCK(1) receptors on vagal afferent nerve terminals initiating feedback inhibition of gastric motility. PMID: 15117731
  11. data support a synergistic interaction between apo A-IV and melanocortins that reduces food intake by acting downstream of the arcuate PMID: 16166201
  12. that apo A-IV, produced by neuronal cells iin brain, may exert its anorectic action by interacting with catabolic regulatory neuropeptides. PMID: 18577393
  13. Intraperitoneally injected Apoa4 inhibited food intake and levels were measured in intestinal lymph. PMID: 19020287
