Betacellulin is a potent EGF family ligand that activates EGFR/ErbB signaling cascades critical to pancreatic β-cell neogenesis, wound healing, and epithelial proliferation. This tag-free recombinant human BTC, spanning the mature processed region (residues 32–111), demonstrates exceptional receptor-binding potency with an ED50 below 0.05 ng/ml in Balb/c 3T3 proliferation assays, corresponding to a specific activity exceeding 2.0 × 10⁷ IU/mg — providing a reliable positive control and dose–response standard for cell proliferation assays, stem cell or β-cell differentiation studies, and EGFR/ErbB receptor-ligand binding experiments via SPR or competition ELISA. E. coli expression yields a non-glycosylated protein that eliminates glycan-related variability, enabling cleaner interpretation of receptor-binding kinetics and ligand competition data. Purity exceeding 98% by SDS-PAGE combined with endotoxin levels below 1.0 EU/μg satisfies the criteria typical for cell-based angiogenesis and wound healing models as well as in vivo tumor biology studies.
