Description

The DOT5 polyclonal antibody is generated through immunization of a rabbit with recombinant S. cerevisiae DOT5 protein (37-118aa). A booster injection is administered to stimulate antibody production. Subsequently, serum containing DOT5 polyclonal antibodies is collected and purified using affinity chromatography. The DOT5 antibody's specificity for S. cerevisiae DOT5 protein has been thoroughly validated through ELISA and WB assays.

S. cerevisiae DOT5 protein functions as a regulator of gene expression in response to osmotic stress, contributing to the yeast cell's ability to adapt and thrive in environments with varying salt concentrations or other osmotically challenging conditions.

Target Background

Function
Thiol-specific peroxidase that catalyzes the reduction of hydrogen peroxide and organic hydroperoxides to water and alcohols, respectively. Plays a role in cell protection against oxidative stress by detoxifying peroxides and as sensor of hydrogen peroxide-mediated signaling events. Has a role in telomere silencing, which is the repression of chromatin structure which leads to a stop in the transcription of nearby genes. Also has a role in the regulation of telomere length. Acts as an alkyl-hydroperoxide reductase in the nucleus during post-diauxic growth. Preferentially reduces alkyl-hydroperoxides rather than hydrogen peroxide. Acts as an antioxidant necessary for stationary phase survival.
