Target Background

Function
E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase which accepts ubiquitin from an E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme in the form of a thioester and then directly transfers the ubiquitin to targeted substrates. Essential in early embryonic development to prevent apoptotic death.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Results suggest that G2E3 is a molecular determinant of the DDR and cell survival. PMID: 25593194
  2. Cell cycle phase-specific expression and highly regulated subcellular localization of G2E3 suggest a possible role in cell cycle regulation and the cellular response to DNA damage. PMID: 17239372
Subcellular Location
Nucleus, nucleolus. Cytoplasm.
Tissue Specificity
Predominantly expressed in brain, liver, kidney, testes and ovary.
