Target Background

Function

Transcription factor maybe involved in reproductive processes. Modulates expression of target genes encoding proteins involved in processes relevant to spermatogenesis.

Authors demonstrate how the X-linked RHOX gene cluster may function in normal human spermatogenesis and provide evidence that it is impaired in human male fertility. PMID: 28171660

In striking contrast to non-human primates, humans appear to have homogenized their two RHOXF2 copies by the endogenous retrovirus -mediated non-allelic recombination mechanism. PMID: 21988730
RHOXF2 is highly expressed in some leukemia cell lines and a variety of human cancers. Results indicate that RHOXF2 is involved in carcinogenesis. PMID: 21874235
