Description

The Tet polyclonal antibody is generated by introducing the recombinant fruit fly Tet protein (amino acids 2494-2767) into a rabbit, stimulating the production of antibodies targeting this antigen. A booster injection enhances antibody production, and the resulting Tet polyclonal antibodies in the rabbit's serum are collected and purified using affinity chromatography. Extensive testing in ELISA and WB assays has confirmed the Tet antibody's specific recognition of fruit fly Tet protein.

The fruit fly genome encodes a family of Tet proteins, including Tet1, Tet2, and Tet3, which play a crucial role in the dynamic regulation of DNA methylation and gene expression. These proteins are responsible for the conversion of 5-methylcytosine (5mC) to 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) during DNA demethylation, which contributes to various developmental and cellular processes in fruit flies.

Target Background

Function
Dioxygenase that specifically demethylates DNA methylated on the 6th position of adenine (N(6)-methyladenosine) DNA. N(6)-methyladenosine (m6A) DNA is present at a relatively high level at the very earliest embryonic stages but at low levels at the late embryonic stages and may act as a regulator of gene expression. Promotes differentiation of early germ cells in ovary.
