Description

The cry2Ab polyclonal antibody is derived from the immunization of a rabbit with recombinant Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki cry2Ab protein (1-633aa). This process triggers the production of specific antibodies within the rabbit's IgG-rich serum. Post-immunization, the cry2Ab antibody undergoes purification through affinity chromatography, resulting in a highly specific antibody that demonstrates reactivity with Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki cry2Ab protein. Its functionality is rigorously confirmed through ELISA and WB applications.

The bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis cry2Ab protein mainly acts as an insecticidal toxin and is used in agriculture as a biopesticide to control various insect pests, especially lepidopteran insects. cry2Ab functions by binding to specific receptors in the insect's midgut, leading to the disruption of the gut lining, ultimately causing the death of the target pest.
