Conjugate Avi-tag Biotinylated
E. coli biotin ligase (BirA) is highly specific in covalently attaching biotin to the 15 amino acid AviTag peptide. This recombinant protein was biotinylated in vivo by AviTag-BirA technology, which method is BriA catalyzes amide linkage between the biotin and the specific lysine of the AviTag.

Tag Info
Tag type will be determined during the manufacturing process.
The tag type will be determined during production process. If you have specified tag type, please tell us and we will develop the specified tag preferentially.
Form
Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer before Lyophilization
Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose.
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.
Note: All of our proteins are default shipped with normal blue ice packs, if you request to ship with dry ice, please communicate with us in advance and extra fees will be charged.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Target Background

Function
Essential cell division protein that assists in the assembly of the Z ring. May serve as the principal membrane anchor for the Z ring. Also required for the recruitment to the septal ring of the downstream cell division proteins FtsK, FtsQ, FtsL, FtsI and FtsN. Binds ATP.
Gene References into Functions
  1. These results implicate the actin homolog FtsA in establishment of a Z-ring scaffold, while directly remodeling the membrane and provide mechanistic insight into localized cell wall remodeling, invagination and constriction at the onset of division. PMID: 29280220
  2. results suggest that these bypass conditions enhance the weak interaction of FtsN with FtsA and its periplasmic partners so that the divisome proteins are brought to the Z-ring when the normal hierarchical pathway is disrupted. PMID: 29967164
  3. FtsEX acts on FtsA to regulate both divisome assembly and activity. PMID: 27503875
  4. FtsN acts on either side of the membrane to induce a conformational switch in both FtsA and the FtsBLQ subcomplex to de-repress septal peptidoglycan synthesis and membrane invagination. PMID: 25496160
  5. overexpression of FtsN bypassed ZipA and a conserved motif in the cytoplasmic domain of FtsN was required for both the bypass and interaction with FtsA PMID: 25496259
  6. These results suggest that allosteric effects, including changes in oligomeric state, may influence the ability of FtsA to bind and/or hydrolyse ATP. PMID: 25213228
  7. These data support a model in which FtsA-FtsN interaction recruits FtsN to the divisome, where it can then stimulate the peptidoglycan remodelling activities required for SPOR-dependent localization. PMID: 24750258
  8. FtsA self-interaction at the Z ring is antagonized by ZipA, allowing unpolymerized FtsA to recruit downstream proteins such as FtsN. PMID: 22111832
  9. data indicate that domain 1C of FtsA participates in the interaction with other FtsA molecules and with the other proteins, but is not involved in the interaction with FtsZ and the localization of FtsA to the septal ring PMID: 15387815
  10. subdomain 1c of FtsA is a completely independent functional domain with an important role in interacting with a septation protein subassembly. PMID: 15516588
  11. FtsA, which is structurally related to eukaryotic actin, has a conserved C-terminal amphipathic helix that is essential for FtsA function; it is required to target FtsA to the membrane and subsequently to the Z ring PMID: 15752196
  12. results suggest that FtsA* gain-of-function mutant interacts with FtsZ in a markedly different way compared with FtsA PMID: 17322202
  13. FtsA is targeted to the membrane before it interacts with FtsZ and demonstrates that this interaction plays an essential role in E. coli cell division. PMID: 17501933
  14. Data show dimerization or oligomerization of the actin-like FtsA protein enhances the integrity of the cytokinetic Z ring. PMID: 17986188
  15. FtsA-W408E could localize to the Z ring and recruit the late cell division protein FtsI, but was defective in self-interaction and recruitment of FtsN, another late cell division protein. PMID: 18186792
