Form
Liquid or Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer
If the delivery form is liquid, the default storage buffer is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 5%-50% glycerol. If the delivery form is lyophilized powder, the buffer before lyophilization is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.134.
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
Basically, we can dispatch the products out in 3-7 working days after receiving your orders. Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.

Target Background

Function
One of the essential components for the initiation of protein synthesis. May protect N-formylmethionyl-tRNA(fMet) from spontaneous hydrolysis. Promotes N-formylmethionyl-tRNA(fMet) binding to the 30S pre-initiation complex (PIC). Also involved in the hydrolysis of GTP during the formation of the 70S ribosomal complex. Upon addition of the 50S ribosomal subunit, IF-1, IF-2 and IF-3 are released leaving the mature 70S translation initiation complex.
Gene References into Functions
  1. IF2 and unique features of initiator tRNA(fMet) help establish the translational reading frame. PMID: 28914580
  2. MD simulations of IF2 docked onto the L12-CTD pinpointed the exact interacting partners-all of which were positively charged on L12 and negatively charged on IF2, connected by salt bridges. PMID: 29686090
  3. The structural transitions of IF2 C-terminal upon GDPNP binding and following nucleotide hydrolysis support the concept of cofactor-dependent conformational switching rather than the classical model for GTPase activity. PMID: 21988058
  4. Rapid docking of 30S with 50S subunits in initiation of translation depends on switching 30S subunit-bound IF2 from its inactive to active form. PMID: 21151095
  5. The authors provide evidence that mutant IF2 specifically interacts with rpsL31 in cold, leading to a bacteriostatic effect on host cells. PMID: 19716413
  6. IF2alpha and IF2beta display almost indistinguishable properties, whereas IF2DeltaN, displays functional activities having properties and requirements distinctly different from those of the intact molecule. PMID: 16935296
  7. Data show that translational initiation factor 2 (IF2) binds ppGpp at the same site and with similar affinity as GTP, and suggest that GTP and the alarmone ppGpp can be considered two alternative physiologically relevant IF2 ligands. PMID: 16968770
  8. Overexpression of IF2 or increasing the affinity of mutant initiator tRNA for IF2 enhanced re-initiation efficiency, suggesting that IF2 is required for efficient re-initiation. PMID: 18221266
  9. Data show that initiation factor 2 ameliorated the growth and polysome defects of the delta yjeQ strain. PMID: 18223068
