Tag Info
Tag type will be determined during the manufacturing process.
The tag type will be determined during production process. If you have specified tag type, please tell us and we will develop the specified tag preferentially.
Form
Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer before Lyophilization
Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.0
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.
Note: All of our proteins are default shipped with normal blue ice packs, if you request to ship with dry ice, please communicate with us in advance and extra fees will be charged.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Target Background

Function
G-protein coupled receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin). Also functions as a receptor for various ergot alkaloid derivatives and psychoactive substances. Ligand binding causes a conformation change that triggers signaling via guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) and modulates the activity of down-stream effectors. Beta-arrestin family members inhibit signaling via G proteins and mediate activation of alternative signaling pathways. Signaling activates a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system that modulates the activity of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase and down-stream signaling cascades and promotes the release of Ca(2+) ions from intracellular stores. Plays a role in the regulation of dopamine and 5-hydroxytryptamine release, 5-hydroxytryptamine uptake and in the regulation of extracellular dopamine and 5-hydroxytryptamine levels, and thereby affects neural activity. Plays a role in the regulation of behavior, including impulsive behavior. Required for normal proliferation of embryonic cardiac myocytes and normal heart development. Protects cardiomyocytes against apoptosis. Plays a role in the adaptation of pulmonary arteries to chronic hypoxia. Plays a role in vasoconstriction. Required for normal osteoblast function and proliferation, and for maintaining normal bone density. Required for normal proliferation of the interstitial cells of Cajal in the intestine. May play a role in the perception of pain.
Gene References into Functions
  1. 5-HT stimulates DNA synthesis and proliferation in primary cultures of adult rat hepatocytes by acting via autocrine secretion of TGF-alpha induced by the serotonin 5-HT2B receptor/Gq/PLC/Ca2+ pathway. PMID: 26804134
  2. pBOO induced up-regulation of the 5-HT(2A) and 5-HT(2B) receptors in the detrusor muscle and subserosal layers of the bladder, and such up-regulation may be related to the enhanced bladder contractile response to 5-HT. PMID: 26106048
  3. Inhibition of apoptosis via modulation of MAPKs/HSPs is essential for 5-HT2BR blockade mediated cardioprotective effect. PMID: 25544272
  4. 5-HT(2B) receptors play a pronociceptive role in peripheral as well as spinal sites in the rat formalin test. PMID: 22476011
  5. A relationship exists between serotonin, immunocytes, and neuropathic pain during which a critical role of 5-HT(2B) receptors develops in blood-derived macrophages. PMID: 22525520
  6. The opposing effects of serotonin, mediated by distinct 5-HT receptors, could explain why drugs targeting serotonin function can cause either diabetes or hypoglycemia in humans. PMID: 22106156
  7. The results of this study suggest a significant role of 5-HT(2A)R and 5-HT(2B)R in respiratory network modulation. PMID: 21789169
  8. the data suggest an involvement of 5-HT(2B) receptors in the generation of apoptotic events associated with cardiac remodelling during increased adrenergic stimulation. PMID: 20374255
  9. The presence of functional 5-HT(2B) receptors in the neonatal medullary breathing center indicates a potential convergent regulatory role of 5-HT(2B) and -(2A) receptors on the central respiratory network. PMID: 16758492
  10. Serotonin may release somatotropin in the anterior pituitary, a response mediated by Htr2b. PMID: 17584957
  11. 5-HT2B receptors, probably at the level of the urethra, increase urethral smooth muscle tone. Furthermore, 5-HT2B and 5-HT2C receptors do not seem to play an important role in the physiological regulation of micturition. PMID: 18604238
