Target Background

Function

Adapter protein that bridges CNOT7, a catalytic subunit of the CCR4-NOT complex, to EIF4E. Facilitates maternal mRNAs decay during the maturation of oocytes and in the fertilized egg, and is required for the maternal-zygotic transition (MZT), zygotic cleavage and initiation of embryonic development.

miR-34b/c and BTG4 are novel tumor suppressors in colorectal cancer (CRC) and that the miR-34b/c CpG island, which bidirectionally regulates miR-34b/c and BTG4, is a frequent target of epigenetic silencing in CRC PMID: 18519671
these data support BTG4 as a candidate tumor suppressor gene that is epigenetically silenced in the majority of gastric cancers. PMID: 19576178
