Target Background

Function

Acts as catalytic component of the CCR4-NOT core complex, which in the nucleus seems to be a general transcription factor, and in the cytoplasm the major mRNA deadenylase involved in mRNA turnover.

Gene References into Functions

AtCCR4a and AtCCR4b are localized to the cytoplasmic foci called the cytoplasmic mRNA processing bodies (P-bodies) and are involved in sucrose and starch metabolism. It was also revealed that AtCCR4a and AtCCR4b are involved in determining the poly(A) length of the Granule-bound starch synthase 1 (GBSS1) transcript. [AtCCR4a] PMID: 25630334
