Description

The creation of the miraculin polyclonal antibody is a well-structured process that commences with the repeated immunization of a rabbit using recombinant Synsepalum dulcificum miraculin (30-220aa) until an optimal antibody titer is achieved. Following this, the rabbit's blood is collected, and the antibodies are meticulously purified from the serum using protein A/G. The functionality of the resulting Miraculin antibody is extensively assessed through ELISA and WB applications, confirming its specific reactivity with the Synsepalum dulcificum miraculin.

Miraculin is a taste-modifying protein discovered in the red berries of Synsepalum dulcificum. While miraculin isn't inherently sweet, when it comes into contact with the human tongue, it temporarily transforms typically sour foods, like citrus, into a sweet taste that can last for up to 2 hours. This effect is achieved as miraculin binds to the sweet receptor cells on the tongue, inhibiting the perception of sour tastes by the brain.
