Description

Administering the recombinant Saccharomyces cerevisiae (strain ATCC 204508 / S288c) (Baker's yeast) RPAB5 protein to the rabbit stimulates an immune response. Antibodies against the RPAB5 protein are produced by the rabbit's immune system over time. After a sufficient antibody response has been produced, a serum sample is collected to obtain polyclonal antibodies. The RPAB5 antibody is then subjected to protein A/G affinity chromatography purification. The efficacy of the RPAB5 antibody is evaluated using ELISA and WB applications. This RPAB5 antibody can specifically react with the Saccharomyces cerevisiae (strain ATCC 204508 / S288c) (Baker's yeast) RPAB5 protein.

The RPAB5 protein in Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Baker's yeast) plays a role in RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) transcription. RPAB5 is a subunit of the RNAPII complex involved in the synthesis of mRNA molecules. It assists in the initiation, elongation, and termination of transcription by interacting with other components of the transcription machinery. RPAB5 is essential for proper gene expression and regulation in yeast cells.

Target Background

Function
DNA-dependent RNA polymerases catalyze the transcription of DNA into RNA using the four ribonucleoside triphosphates as substrates. Common component of RNA polymerases I, II and III which synthesize ribosomal RNA precursors, mRNA precursors and many functional non-coding RNAs, and a small RNAs, such as 5S rRNA and tRNAs, respectively. Pol II is the central component of the basal RNA polymerase II transcription machinery. Pols are composed of mobile elements that move relative to each other. In Pol II, RBP10 is part of the core element with the central large cleft.
Subcellular Location
Nucleus, nucleolus.
Protein Families
Archaeal RpoN/eukaryotic RPB10 RNA polymerase subunit family
