Species Equus caballus (Horse)
Sample Types serum, plasma, tissue homogenates
Detection Range 12.5 ng/mL-800 ng/mL
Sensitivity 6.25 ng/mL
Assay Time 1-5h
Sample Volume 50-100ul
Detection Wavelength 450 nm
Research Area Metabolism
Assay Principle quantitative
Measurement Competitive
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%
Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess.
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%
Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
To assess the linearity of the assay, samples were spiked with high concentrations of horse GSN in various matrices and diluted with the Sample Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.

Q&A and Customer Reviews

 Customer Reviews
  • Tested application: ELISA
    Test sample: Plasma (anticoagulant)
    Species: Horse
Review: This was a trial kit (only 24 wells) to test if it was going to work with our samples. We are testing the quantity of Gelsolin within Equine plasma at different time points before and after treatment. We tested the samples undilute, 1:25, 1:250 and (recommended) 1:2500. Both the 1:250 and 1:2500 samples were within range of the standard curve. We have since ordered more kits in order to run all of the study samples at 1:1000 dilution.

Target Data

Function Calcium-regulated, actin-modulating protein that binds to the plus (or barbed) ends of actin monomers or filaments, preventing monomer exchange (end-blocking or capping). It can promote the assembly of monomers into filaments (nucleation) as well as sever filaments already formed. Plays a role in ciliogenesis (By similarity).
Gene References into Functions
  1. Ca2+ binding by domain 2 plays a critical role in the activation and stabilization of gelsolin PMID: 19666512
Subcellular Location Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton
Protein Families Villin/gelsolin family
