Description

This human LAMA5 ELISA kit employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique to measure the levels of human LAMA5 in serum and plasma. The enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction is also used to amplify the signal and quantify the levels of the analyte through the intensity of the colored product. The color intensity positively correlates with the amount of LAMA5 bound in the initial step.

The LAMA5 gene codes for the laminin subunit α5, the most abundant laminin α subunit in the human brain. It forms a heterotrimer with subunit β1/β2 and γ1/γ3 and modulates neurodevelopmental processes, including epiblast polarization, neurite outgrowth, neuronal migration, synaptic stability, cell adhesion, differentiation, migration, and signaling transduction. LAMA5 plays a prominent role in the maintenance and function of the extracellular matrix (ECM) in mammalian tissues, which is crucial in developmental patterning, stem cell niches, cancer, and genetic diseases. It is necessary for normal embryonic development.

Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
Binding to cells via a high affinity receptor, laminin is thought to mediate the attachment, migration and organization of cells into tissues during embryonic development by interacting with other extracellular matrix components.
