N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) is a cardiac biomarker released from ventricular cardiomyocytes in response to increased wall tension and volume overload. As the inactive N-terminal fragment of the brain natriuretic peptide precursor, NT-proBNP serves as a stable indicator of heart failure severity and cardiovascular stress. Its longer half-life compared to BNP makes it particularly valuable for clinical evaluation of cardiac function and prognosis in cardiovascular disease research.
This Human NT-proBNP ELISA kit (CSB-E05152h) uses a quantitative sandwich assay principle for measuring NT-proBNP levels in serum, plasma, and tissue homogenates. The assay provides a detection range of 0.312-20 ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.216 ng/mL. Detection occurs at 450 nm wavelength, requiring 50-100 μL sample volume and 1-5 hours assay time for completion.
