Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%
Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess.
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%
Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
To assess the linearity of the assay, samples were spiked with high concentrations of mouse INS in various matrices and diluted with the Sample Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.

This ELISA kit provides quantitative measurement of insulin (INS) in mouse samples, supporting metabolic research where precise assessment of beta-cell secretory output is central to study design. Because circulating insulin levels fluctuate rapidly with feeding state, glucose challenge, and disease progression, researchers need an assay calibrated to the narrow physiological window characteristic of murine insulin dynamics.
Detection Range: The 0.188–12 mIU/L range spans fasting through postprandial and glucose-stimulated insulin concentrations typically observed in mouse serum and plasma, including the hyperinsulinemia seen in ob/ob or diet-induced obesity models. Most samples can be assayed neat or with minimal dilution, simplifying workflow during glucose tolerance testing with serial bleeds.
Sensitivity: At 0.047 mIU/L, the kit detects the low basal insulin levels present in fasted lean mice and in streptozotocin-treated models where residual beta-cell function is minimal, as well as low-concentration secretion in islet culture supernatants.
Sample Compatibility: Validation across serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, tissue homogenates, and cell lysates enables researchers to correlate circulating insulin with pancreatic islet content and in vitro glucose-stimulated insulin secretion within a single assay platform.
Assay Efficiency: The 50–100 µL sample volume accommodates the limited blood volumes from serial tail-vein sampling during GTT protocols, while the 1–5 hour assay time permits same-day data acquisition.
This kit is directly applicable to studies of type 2 diabetes pathogenesis, beta-cell compensation in obesity, and pharmacological evaluation of insulin secretagogues.
