Precision
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%
Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess.
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%
Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.

Linearity
To assess the linearity of the assay, samples were spiked with high concentrations of rat MMP-13 in various matrices and diluted with the Sample Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.

Description

Matrix metallopeptidase 13 (MMP13), also known as collagenase 3, is a zinc-dependent endopeptidase that plays an important role in extracellular matrix remodeling and tissue homeostasis. This enzyme shows high specificity for type II collagen and is particularly important in cartilage degradation processes. MMP13 is widely studied in research related to arthritis, osteoarthritis, and other degenerative joint diseases, where its dysregulation contributes to pathological cartilage breakdown. The enzyme is also involved in normal physiological processes including bone development, wound healing, and tissue repair mechanisms.

The Rat matrix metalloproteinase 13,MMP-13 ELISA kit (CSB-E07412r) is designed for quantitative measurement of MMP13 in Rattus norvegicus samples. This sandwich ELISA works with serum, plasma, and tissue homogenates with a detection range of 93.75 pg/mL to 6000 pg/mL and sensitivity of 23.44 pg/mL. The assay requires 50-100ul sample volume and can be completed within 1-5 hours. Detection occurs at 450 nm wavelength, providing researchers with a reliable tool for MMP13 quantification in rat samples.

Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
Plays a role in the degradation of extracellular matrix proteins including fibrillar collagen, fibronectin, TNC and ACAN. Cleaves triple helical collagens, including type I, type II and type III collagen, but has the highest activity with soluble type II collagen. Can also degrade collagen type IV, type XIV and type X. May also function by activating or degrading key regulatory proteins, such as TGFB1 and CCN2. Plays a role in wound healing, tissue remodeling, cartilage degradation, bone development, bone mineralization and ossification. Required for normal embryonic bone development and ossification. Plays a role in the healing of bone fractures via endochondral ossification. Plays a role in wound healing, probably by a mechanism that involves proteolytic activation of TGFB1 and degradation of CCN2. Plays a role in keratinocyte migration during wound healing. May play a role in cell migration and in tumor cell invasion.
