Description
The AFP monoclonal antibody is a mouse-derived antibody that specifically binds to the AFP protein, which is a protein produced by the liver and yolk sac during fetal development. AFP protein mainly transports and stores nutrient ssuch as fatty acids and bilirubin, to the developing fetus. AFP levels in the blood can be used as a marker for certain conditions such as pregnancy and liver cancer. This monoclonal antibody against AFP is produced by fusing myeloma cells with spleen cells derived from mice immunized with recombinant human AFP protein. The hybridoma cells producing the desired antibody are then screened and cloned. This AFP monoclonal antibody is purified using protein G affinity chromatography to a purity of greater than 95%. Its high specificity for human AFP protein has been validated in ELISA and IHC applications.
