Reconstitution

We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20°C/-80°C. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.

Storage Condition

Shelf Life

Description

Complement factor D catalyzes the rate-limiting step of the alternative pathway by cleaving factor B within the C3bB complex, making it a critical control point for complement-mediated immune responses. This full-length mature protein (aa 26–253) demonstrates specific antibody binding with an EC50 of 31.86–39.21 ng/mL in functional ELISA, providing quantitative evidence that the recombinant protein retains native epitope presentation suitable for complement activation assays and inhibitor screening targeting the alternative pathway. The combination of >95% purity and <1.0 EU/μg endotoxin meets the quality thresholds commonly required for hemolytic assays and opsonization studies, where contaminating proteases or inflammatory triggers would confound interpretation of complement-dependent lysis or phagocytosis. Function

Factor D cleaves factor B when the latter is complexed with factor C3b, activating the C3bbb complex, which then becomes the C3 convertase of the alternate pathway. Its function is homologous to that of C1s in the classical pathway.
