Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20°C/-80°C. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
5-10 business days
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Description

Serum amyloid A1 is a major acute-phase reactant implicated in monocyte recruitment and amyloid fibril formation, making validated bioactivity essential for meaningful functional studies. This tag-free recombinant rhesus macaque SAA1 (aa 19–122, full-length mature protein) demonstrates confirmed chemotactic activity on human monocytes at 10–100 ng/ml, providing a reliable positive control or stimulus for monocyte migration assays and innate immune signaling experiments. Expression in *E. coli* yields a non-glycosylated protein that eliminates variability from post-translational modifications, supporting reproducible dose-response characterization in cell-based chemotaxis and inflammation studies. Purity exceeding 97% by SDS-PAGE combined with endotoxin levels below 1.0 EU/μg satisfies the criteria typical for functional cell assays, cross-species reactivity comparisons, and preclinical immunology research involving non-human primate models.

Target Background

Function
Major acute phase reactant. Apolipoprotein of the HDL complex.
Involvement in disease
Reactive, secondary amyloidosis is characterized by the extracellular accumulation in various tissues of the SAA protein. These deposits are highly insoluble and resistant to proteolysis; they disrupt tissue structure and compromise function.
Subcellular Location
Secreted.
Protein Families
SAA family
Tissue Specificity
Expressed by the liver; secreted in plasma.
