Target Background

Function
Involved in regulation of mitochondrial membrane ATP synthase. Necessary for H(+) conduction of ATP synthase. Facilitates energy-driven catalysis of ATP synthesis by blocking a proton leak through an alternative proton exit pathway.
Gene References into Functions
  1. The study is the first to show that ATP5S is one of the target genes of miR-34a. PMID: 26385595
Subcellular Location
Mitochondrion. Mitochondrion inner membrane.
Protein Families
ATP synthase subunit s family
