Description

The KCNJ4 antibody is designed to recognize the human KCNJ4 protein. When a rabbit received an injection of the recombinant human KCNJ4 protein, an immune response occurred in the rabbit producing large amounts of antibodies against the KCNJ4 protein. The rabbit's blood was collected and isolated to get the anti-serum, which was antigen affinity purified to obtain the KCNJ4 polyclonal antibody.

This KCNJ4 antibody has accessed its specificity for the human KCNJ4 protein in ELISA, WB, and IHC applications. KCNJ4 mainly regulates the flow of potassium ions across the cell membrane of cardiac myocytes. It also participates in the modulation of the heart rate and cardiac output.

Target Background

Function
Inward rectifier potassium channels are characterized by a greater tendency to allow potassium to flow into the cell rather than out of it. Their voltage dependence is regulated by the concentration of extracellular potassium; as external potassium is raised, the voltage range of the channel opening shifts to more positive voltages. The inward rectification is mainly due to the blockage of outward current by internal magnesium. Can be blocked by extracellular barium and cesium.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Increased excitability and decreased dendritic arborization are associated with downregulation of inward rectifier potassium channels (Kir2.1/2.3). PMID: 22396414
  2. Kir2.3 is internalized by an AP-2 clathrin-dependent mechanism. PMID: 18180291
  3. possibility of intramolecular interactions of the residue Kir2.3(H117) with conserved cysteines in close proximity to the selectivity filter PMID: 18453743
  4. The data suggest that Kir2.3 plays a potentially important role in I(K1) currents in neonatal rat cardiomyocytes. PMID: 18503768
  5. TIP-1 may act as an important regulator for the endocytic pathway of Kir2.3. PMID: 19635485
