Description

A rabbit polyclonal antibody to MP65 was generated by immunizing the rabbit with the recombinant Candida albicans (strain SC5314 / ATCC MYA-2876) (Yeast) cell surface mannoprotein MP65 (47-125aa) and was purified by protein G. The MP65 antibody can react with Candida albicans (strain SC5314 / ATCC MYA-2876) (Yeast) MP65 protein and its functionality has been validated in ELISA and WB applications.

The Candida albicans cell surface mannoprotein MP65 serves as an adhesin, facilitating the binding of the yeast cells to host tissues and cells. This interaction is a key factor in the pathogenesis of Candida infections.

Target Background

Function
Surface mannoprotein required for hyphal morphogenesis, surface adherence, and pathogenicity. Contributes in a high proportion to the carbohydrate component of the matrix due to high levels of glycosylation and may play important roles during biofilm development and maintenance. Acts as a major antigen target of host cell-mediated immune response. Induces extensive T-cell proliferation of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Facilitates host dendritic cells maturation and promotes cytokine production through its glycosylated portion while its protein core is essentially involved in induction of T-cell response.
Subcellular Location
Secreted, cell wall.
Protein Families
Glycosyl hydrolase 17 family
