To generate the polyprotein polyclonal antibody, a rabbit is immunized with recombinant Ugandan cassava brown streak virus polyprotein (amino acids 1407-1423). A booster antigen injection is administered to the rabbit after several days to stimulate a robust antibody response. The blood serum containing the polyprotein polyclonal antibodies is then collected and subjected to purification using protein G. The functionality of the purified polyprotein antibody has been verified through extensive testing in ELISA and WB assays, confirming its specific recognition of the Ugandan cassava brown streak virus polyprotein protein.
The Ugandan cassava brown streak virus polyprotein plays a crucial role in the life cycle of the virus. It is a large, multi-functional protein that is proteolytically processed into various individual proteins and peptides, which are involved in multiple steps of the viral replication cycle, including viral entry, replication, transcription, translation, and assembly. Additionally, the polyprotein is involved in the suppression of host defense mechanisms and facilitates the spread of the virus within the host plant.
