Involved in chromosome condensation, pairing and segregation during meiosis. Responsible for cohesion between replicated sister chromatids.

Gene References into Functions

ASK1 is required for normal SYN1 distribution during meiotic prophase I and suggest that ask1 associated defects may be primarily related to SYN1 mislocalization. PMID: 16897472
REC8 and SCC3 are necessary not only to maintain centromere cohesion at anaphase I, but also for the monopolar orientation of the kinetochores during the first meiotic division [AtREC8] PMID: 16176934
