The Yeast-expressed Recombinant Escherichia coli (strain K12) Type 1 fimbrin D-mannose specific adhesin (fimH) validated by LC-MS/MS Analysis is a full-length of mature protein containing the amino acid sequence of Phe22-Gln300. Its purity is measured by SDS-PAGE and reaches up to 90%. It has a predicted molecular mass of 29.1 kDa, but its observed molecular weight is slightly higher because of the glycosylation. Animals such as rabbits immunized by this recombinant fimH protein will obtain anti-fimH antibodies.
FimH is the adhesion region of type 1 fimbriae in E.coli. Adhesion fimH contributes to the colonization of Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) in the bladder through the binding of its lectin to glycoproteins with terminally exposed mannose, thus causing urinary tract infections (UTI).
