The cDNA fragment encoding 4378-5310AA of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome related-Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) Orf1ab was expressed in E.coli. The product is the recombinant MERS-CoV Orf1ab. Its purity was determined by using SDS-PAGE and reached up to 90%. Its calculated molecular weight is about 106.9 kDa. This recombinant MERS-CoV Orf1ab may be used for specific antibody synthesis or in the studies of microbiology.
MERS-CoV Orf1ab is cleaved into 15/16 different non-structural proteins, which form the replicase complex. The replicase complex is essential for polyprotein processing and efficient virus replication.
