Description

The expression of the recombinant Mouse Mup11 protein involves the construction of a plasmid encoding the Mouse Mup11 protein (1-151aa). This resulting plasmid is introduced into e.coli cells. Positive e.coli cells are selected and cultured for the protein expression. The protein is fused with a N-terminal 10xHis tag. After that, cultured cells are lysed. The subsequent step includes purifying the recombinant Mouse Mup11 protein through affinity purification from the cell lysate and assessing the purity of the protein via SDS-PAGE. The purity of the recombinant Mup11 protein is greater than 90%.

Function

Major urinary proteins (Mups) bind pheromones, and thus stabilize them to allow slow release into the air from urine marks. May protect pheromones from oxidation. May also act as pheromones themselves. In this context, they play a role in the regulation of social behaviors, such as aggression, mating, pup-suckling, territory establishment and dominance (Probable). Binds the pheromone analog 2-sec-butyl-4,5-dihydrothiazole (SBT) in vitro.
