Conjugate Avi-tag Biotinylated
E. coli biotin ligase (BirA) is highly specific in covalently attaching biotin to the 15 amino acid AviTag peptide. This recombinant protein was biotinylated in vivo by AviTag-BirA technology, which method is BriA catalyzes amide linkage between the biotin and the specific lysine of the AviTag.

Tag Info
Tag type will be determined during the manufacturing process.
The tag type will be determined during production process. If you have specified tag type, please tell us and we will develop the specified tag preferentially.
Form
Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer before Lyophilization
Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.0
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.
Note: All of our proteins are default shipped with normal blue ice packs, if you request to ship with dry ice, please communicate with us in advance and extra fees will be charged.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Target Background

Function
Binds directly to activin and functions as an activin antagonist. Specific inhibitor of the biosynthesis and secretion of pituitary follicle stimulating hormone (FSH).
Gene References into Functions
  1. These data suggest that ghrelin inhibits myocardial fibrosis, attenuates left ventricular remodeling, and eventually improves cardiac function by adjusting Act A/FS imbalance. PMID: 29113826
  2. manifestation of polycystic ovarian syndrome-like phenotype following prenatal exposure to excess androgen is associated with irregularity in expression of the FST gene during the estrus cycle PMID: 28277126
  3. Results show that Myostatin and follistatin protein expression is reduced in the long-term hypertrophied myocardium from spontaneously hypertensive rats with heart failure. PMID: 27128567
  4. Myogenin, myostatin, and follistatin expression is lower and myogenic regulatory factor (MRF)4 levels higher in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) with heart failure compared to the Wistar-Kyoto strain. PMID: 22464481
  5. Expression of follistatin and myostatin mRNA is increased in muscle and subcutaneous fat of sedentary diabetic rats compared with sedentary control rats. PMID: 22332899
  6. The ratio of follistatin/myostatin could be used to monitor the progress of target muscle atrophy and recovery. PMID: 22033906
  7. Fst expression is necessary for the proliferation of small hepatocytes. PMID: 21826650
  8. Effects of training and androgens on MYOPRO and FOLLI concentrations in blood and skeletal muscle, were investigated. PMID: 20801187
  9. During chronic heart failure, decreased skeletal muscle trophism is combined with unchanged myostatin and reduced follistatin expression. PMID: 20002838
  10. demonstrate that levels of follistatin mRNA show two surges during the estrous cycle; a relationship between ovarian follistatin expression and progesterone secretion is also suggested PMID: 11906933
  11. PACAP and GnRH down-regulate follicle-stimulating hormone-beta mRNA levels by stimulating follistatin gene expression. PACAP influences FSH production selectively by a paracrine mechanism through folliculostellate cells that involves follistatin. PMID: 12088867
  12. frequency regulation of FSHbeta transcription involves both direct actions of GnRH and indirect effects, via changes in pituitary FS expression PMID: 12193535
  13. we studied the expression of follistatin in rat and mouse liver tumors as a possible mechanism to overcome activin growth control, 40% of the tumors displayed increased levels of follistatin mRNA when compared to tumor-surrounding liver tissue. PMID: 12203361
  14. follistatin originating from anterior pituitary folliculostellate cells participates in mediating the effects of IL-1beta, glucocorticoids, and other agents on the response of pituitary cells to activins. PMID: 12538636
  15. crystal structure of the presumed heparan sulfate-binding domain of follistatin, both alone and in complex with the small heparin analogs sucrose octasulfate and D-myo-inositol hexasulfate PMID: 12867435
  16. inhibin is a major regulator of FS, both by transcriptional and nontranscriptional mechanisms. PMID: 14561646
  17. Data suggest that betaA- and betaC-activin subunit proteins and follistatin are autocrine growth regulators in regenerating liver and when expressed independently lead to hepatocyte apoptosis or mitosis in a subset of hepatocytes. PMID: 15821113
  18. The roles of activin A and follistatin in hepatic fribrogenesis are reported. PMID: 16123203
  19. Follistatin was overexpressed while both activin subunits were downregulated in the majority of rat and human liver tumours PMID: 16935389
  20. Follistatin mRNA levels increased significantly with GnRH treatment in young animals but were not significantly changed in the middle aged females. PMID: 17344471
  21. intron 1 of the follistatin gene has a critical role in mediating Smad-dependent effects of activin and regulating the expression level of this gene PMID: 18184649
  22. Activin betaA subunit, follistatin and follistatin-like 3 are expressed in the endometrium of ovariectomized rats and regulated by estrogen replacement PMID: 18781389
  23. Fst expression in the pineal gland exhibits a ~20-fold increase at night, reaching levels that are > 16 fold higher than in other tissues. Expression is controlled by an adrenergic-cyclic AMP mechanism. PMID: 19103603
