Description

A DNA sequence corresponding to 1-390aa of the Staphylococcus aureus Cell division protein FtsZ (ftsZ) was expressed with a 6xHis-tag at the N-terminus in E.coli. The resulting product is the Recombinant full-length Staphylococcus aureus ftsZ protein. Its purity is greater than 85% as determined by SDS-PAGE, and it has a calculated molecular weight of 45.1 kDa. This recombinant protein may discover uses in the preparation of antibodies against ftsZ or the ftsZ-mediated microbiology studies.

Filamenting temperature-sensitive mutant Z (ftsZ) is the most important component of the divisome of almost all bacteria. FtsZ is a pacemaker of divisome formation and cytokinesis. Serving as the cell division initiator, ftsZ assembles into protofilaments to form the Z-ring and scaffolds for further members of the divisome at the prospective division site. As the cell cycle proceeds, the divisome constricts and generates septal peptidoglycan, allowing for the formation of the septum and eventual cytokinesis.

Buffer If the delivery form is liquid, the default storage buffer is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 5%-50% glycerol.
If the delivery form is lyophilized powder, the buffer before lyophilization is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.0.
Reconstitution We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20°C/-80°C. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.

Storage Condition Store at -20°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.
Notes Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Function Essential cell division protein that forms a contractile ring structure (Z ring) at the future cell division site. The regulation of the ring assembly controls the timing and the location of cell division. One of the functions of the FtsZ ring is to recruit other cell division proteins to the septum to produce a new cell wall between the dividing cells. Binds GTP and shows GTPase activity.
