Target Background

Function
This is a receptor for bradykinin. Could be a factor in chronic pain and inflammation.
Gene References into Functions
  1. The experimental periodontitis in rats can induce systemic inflammation and up-regulate B1 kinin receptors in the rat paw, modifying the inflammatory response at a site distant from oral infection. PMID: 29225113
  2. Hearts of rats overexpressing the B1R exclusively in the endothelium have expanded LV cavities with reduced capacity to generate pressure and shortening, suggesting myocardial depression. PMID: 28937259
  3. upregulated B1R may contribute to early hemorrhagic transformation after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion in type 1 diabetic rats PMID: 28726167
  4. data imply in a possible participation of B1R in the short term memory impairment observed in traumatic brain injury, neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration PMID: 26669247
  5. Kinin B1R contributes to acute gouty attacks, including the ones facilitated by ACEi. PMID: 25344431
  6. Data suggest that kinin B1R is upregulated by the oxidative stress in the brain of insulin-resistant rats and its activation causes stereotypic nocifensive behavior through the release of substance P, glutamate and NO. PMID: 25959537
  7. Preclinical pharmacology, metabolic stability, pharmacokinetics and toxicology of the peptidic kinin B1 receptor antagonist R-954. PMID: 24361511
  8. bradykinin B2 receptor expression is upregulated in vascular endothelium by overexpression of B1 bradykinin receptor PMID: 23306173
  9. There was no significant difference in B1 receptor expression in both experimental groups, and arterial injection of R-715, a B1 receptors blocker, had no significant effects on RSNA and MAP responses evoked by muscle stretch. PMID: 23417862
  10. Data from a model applying fresh smoke (or the vapor phase/particulate matter) to lung slices in 3-day culture confirm up-regulation of stress-response genes (bradykinin B1 receptor, IL-1beta, and CYP1A1) along with damage to alveolar structure. PMID: 22266391
  11. The bradykinin B1 receptor antagonist R-954 inhibited edema in rat paw suggested that the B1 receptors were involved in the tumor growth. PMID: 21835216
  12. Kinin B1 receptor enhances the oxidative stress in a rat model of insulin resistance. PMID: 20830306
  13. Results demonstrate the involvement of bradykinin B(1) receptor in cigarette smoke-induced airway inflammation through a mechanism which is mediated by the pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-1beta. PMID: 20637817
  14. The upregulation of kinin B1R in spinal dorsal horn microglia by pro-inflammatory cytokines is proposed as a crucial mechanism in early pain neuropathy in STZ-diabetic rats. PMID: 20587056
  15. Upregulation of kinin B1 receptor mRNA in the hypothalamus of spontaneously hypertensive rats in the established phase of hypertension may reflect an epiphenomenon in essential hypertension. PMID: 12025958
  16. Induction of renal bradykinin B1 receptor expression in streptozotocin diabetic rats is strongly supported by the increase in B1 receptor protein and mRNA as well as by the functional effect of B1 antagonist on Erk-1 and Erk-2 phosphorylation. PMID: 12025968
  17. Results support an important role for kinin B(1) receptors in modulating inflammatory responses and for the first time demonstrates that B(1) receptors mediate a hypertensive response to des-Arg(9)-bradykinin. PMID: 12411434
  18. Up-regulation of bradykinin B1-receptor in early stages of cardiac wound healing induced by ischemia and in chronic stages of cardiac remodeling indicates that kinins play a major role in the complex processes of cardiac tissue injury and repair PMID: 12489796
  19. Kinin B1 receptor is up-regulated in the streptozotocin-diabetic rat lung, and its activation increases leukocyte infiltration into the pleural cavity; B1 receptor overexpression seems to depend on neutrophil influx and association with hyperglycemia. PMID: 12522068
  20. Kindling-induced epilepsy results in a striking increase of B(1) receptor labeling in the rat brain. An altered balance between B(1) and B(2) receptor populations may play a pivotal role in the onset and/or maintenance of epilepsy. PMID: 12746865
