Description

The production of the A27L polyclonal antibody is a meticulous process that begins with the repeated immunization of a rabbit using recombinant vaccinia virus 14 kDa fusion protein (1-110aa). This immunization is carried out until an adequate antibody titer is achieved. Subsequently, the rabbit's blood is collected, and the antibodies are purified from the serum using protein A/G. The functionality of the resulting A27L antibody is thoroughly evaluated through ELISA and WB applications, confirming its specific reactivity with the vaccinia virus 14 kDa fusion protein.

The A27L gene encodes the 14-kDa protein that serves critical functions in the lifecycle of vaccinia virus (VV). This 14-kDa protein is essential for the formation of extracellular enveloped virus (EEV), a vital infectious form that facilitates virus dissemination within cultured cells and infected animal tissues. Additionally, it plays a significant role in the viral entry process, participating in both virus-to-cell and cell-to-cell fusions.

Target Background

Function
Structural protein involved in the envelopment of mature virion (MV) to form the wrapped virion (WV). The wrapping consists of the addition of Golgi membranes to the mature virion. Participates in mature virion (MV) movement within the infected cell. May play an indirect role in MV-cell fusion.
Subcellular Location
Virion.
