The development of the EBNA3 polyclonal antibody follows a well-defined procedure. It initiates with the repeated immunization of a rabbit using recombinant Epstein-Barr virus EBNA3 protein (1-138aa), continuing until an optimal antibody titer is achieved. Subsequently, the rabbit's blood is collected, and the antibodies are purified from the serum using protein G. The functionality of the resulting EBNA3 antibody is comprehensively assessed in ELISA and WB applications, affirming its specific binding with the Epstein-Barr virus EBNA3 protein.
The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) EBNA3 proteins (EBNA3A, EBNA3B, and EBNA3C) play a crucial role in the regulation of viral gene expression and the transformation of B lymphocytes. They are involved in the modulation of host gene expression, cell cycle control, and immune evasion. EBNA3A and EBNA3C, in particular, contribute to maintaining the immortalization of infected B cells by inhibiting the function of certain tumor suppressor proteins.
