Target Background

Function
Guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) are involved as a modulator or transducer in various transmembrane signaling systems. The beta and gamma chains are required for the GTPase activity, for replacement of GDP by GTP, and for G protein-effector interaction.

  2. The results of this study indicated that Galphaolf exclusively forms a functional heterotrimeric G-protein with Gbeta1 and Ggamma13 in OSNs, mediating olfactory signal transduction PMID: 23637188
  3. Data suggest that proteins of the taste transduction cascade (alpha-gustducin, G-protein gamma13, and phospholipase Cbeta2) are expressed in testis and are involved in spermatogenesis. PMID: 22266327
  4. Ggamma13 subunit is coexpressed in physiologically ON-type cone bipolar cells with Gbeta3 and Gbeta4 but is not present in OFF-type bipolar cells. PMID: 12454992
  5. Ggamma13 interacts with PDZ domain-containing proteins PMID: 16473877
  6. Gng13 mRNA is highly restricted to the cortex of the XX gonad during sexual differentiation, suggesting a role for this gene during ovarian development. PMID: 17497668
  7. Ggamma13, a divergent member of the Ggamma subunit family, is abundantly expressed in the cilia of olfactory sensory neurons and and interacts with Ric-8B. PMID: 18462949
