Description

The GLMU polyclonal antibody is obtained by introducing the recombinant GLMU protein into a rabbit, which stimulates the production of antibodies that specifically target this antigen. To further amplify antibody production, a booster injection is administered. The resulting GLMU polyclonal antibodies present in the rabbit's serum are collected and purified using protein A/G. Thorough testing conducted in ELISA and WB assays has conclusively validated the GLMU antibody's specific ability to recognize Escherichia coli (strain K12) GLMU protein.

The Escherichia coli (strain K12) GLMU protein mainly catalyzes the formation of N-acetylglucosamine-1-phosphate from UDP-N-acetylglucosamine. This enzyme is involved in the biosynthesis of peptidoglycan, a major component of the bacterial cell wall. It plays a crucial role in cell wall synthesis and maintenance, which is important for the structural integrity and protection of the bacterial cell.

Target Background

Function
Catalyzes the last two sequential reactions in the de novo biosynthetic pathway for UDP-N-acetylglucosamine (UDP-GlcNAc). The C-terminal domain catalyzes the transfer of acetyl group from acetyl coenzyme A to glucosamine-1-phosphate (GlcN-1-P) to produce N-acetylglucosamine-1-phosphate (GlcNAc-1-P), which is converted into UDP-GlcNAc by the transfer of uridine 5-monophosphate (from uridine 5-triphosphate), a reaction catalyzed by the N-terminal domain.
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm.
Protein Families
N-acetylglucosamine-1-phosphate uridyltransferase family; Transferase hexapeptide repeat family
