Target Background

Function
Functions as transport protein in the blood stream. Binds various ligands in the interior of its beta-barrel domain. Appears to function in modulating the activity of the immune system during the acute-phase reaction.
Gene References into Functions
  1. fatigue upregulates the level of ORM1, which in turn functions as an anti-fatigue protein to enhance muscle endurance via the CCR5 pathway. PMID: 26740279
  2. context-dependent nature of ORM1 angioregulatory function is further demonstrated in the CAM assay where ORM1 stimulates developmental angiogenesis without exerting any inhibitory activity PMID: 22916107
  3. alpha-1 acid glycoprotein expression is increased by retinoids at the transcriptional level through two distinct DR1 retinoic acid responsive elements PMID: 15157739
  4. Surprisingly, AGP-over-expressing mice were not protected against renal ischemia-reperfusion injury. PMID: 15502707
  5. Orm1 gene expression highly induced in cardiomyocytes overexpressing mineralocorticoid receptor and treated with aldosterone. PMID: 17234708
