Target Background

Function
This enzyme is required for electron transfer from NADP to cytochrome P450 in microsomes. It can also provide electron transfer to heme oxygenase and cytochrome B5.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Knockout of the cytochrome P450 reductase by CRISPR/Cas9 technology (POR(-/-)) in HEK293 cells overexpressing Nox4 or Nox5 did not interfere with ROS production in intact cells. However, POR(-/-) abolished the signal in NADPH-stimulated assays using membrane fractions from the very same cells. Moreover, membranes of rat smooth muscle cells treated with angiotensin II showed an increased NADPH-dependent signal with lucigen PMID: 27863990
  2. we observed that miR-378 modulates the oscillation amplitudes of Cdkn1a in the control of cell cycle and Por in the regulation of oxidation reduction by forming partnership with different circadian transcription factors PMID: 26898952
  3. Results are the first to show that some forms of opioid-mediated stress-induced analgesia require brain neuronal P450 activity. PMID: 25020125
  4. Immunological and metabolic changes resulting from a genetic deficiency in CPR expression in the intestine in mice. PMID: 24989705
  5. An apparent link exists between the cytochrome p450 reductase and FGF signaling pathways. PMID: 24086598
  6. These data collectively indicate a novel role of the Cpr gene in fear conditioning and memory. PMID: 22626646
  7. this study provides novel insights into the regulation of gap junction function by CYPOR and suggests that Cx43 may play an important role(s) in CYPOR-mediated bone defects seen in patients. PMID: 21726529
  8. inactivation of the hepatic cytochrome P450 system by conditional deletion of this enzyme PMID: 12566435
  9. Changes in hepatic mRNA expression using microarray analysis and real-time PCR in POR null mice are reported. PMID: 15717863
  10. POR function is indispensable for the proper regulation of retinoic acid levels and tissue distribution not only during early embryonic development but also in later morphogenesis and molecular patterning of the brain, abdominal/caudal region and limbs. PMID: 17126317
  11. The hepatic deficiency of this enzyme reverberates throughout the biological system and produces a coordinated response to the low levels of circulating cholesterol and bile. PMID: 17722906
  12. Data suggest that cellular cytochrome P450 oxidoreductase-dependent cholesterol synthesis is essential during limb and skeletal development. PMID: 19273610
