Target Background

Function
PTH elevates calcium level by dissolving the salts in bone and preventing their renal excretion. Stimulates [1-14C]-2-deoxy-D-glucose (2DG) transport and glycogen synthesis in osteoblastic cells.
Gene References into Functions
  1. PTHrP and PTH mediate wasting through a common mechanism involving PTHR. PMID: 26669699
  2. our data demonstrate that PTH activation of nuclear receptor-associated protein 1 is essential for the effect of PTH to increase FGF23 levels. PMID: 24940803
  3. data support a link between PTH regulating HDAC4 phosphorylation by PKA, trafficking, partial degradation, and the control of MMP-13 transcription through association with Runx2 PMID: 24904057
  4. Mg reduces PTH secretion mainly when a moderate low calcium concentration is present; Mg also modulates parathyroid glands function through upregulation of the key cellular receptors CaR, VDR and FGF23/Klotho system. PMID: 24103811
  5. The persistence of the phosphaturic response to PTH occurs through posttranscriptional mechanisms. PMID: 23344572
  6. The secretory response of parathyroid hormone to acute hypocalcemia in vivo is independent of parathyroid glandular sodium/potassium-ATPase activity. PMID: 21209610
  7. Data suggest that a high concentration of PTH(1-34)-induced cytotoxicity and apoptosis in PC12 cells was associated with upregulation of ERK and p38 through a mitochondria-mediated apoptotic pathway. PMID: 20971569
  8. Study indicates an influence of sex on PTH molecular form secretion or metabolism. PMID: 20627105
  9. Modulation of integrin expression in osteoblastic cells by PTH is likely to be indirect, and phenotypic expression of integrin subtypes is part of the cascade of events that lead to PTH (1-34) mediated osteoblast differentiation. PMID: 11746505
  10. New signaling pathway for parathyroid hormone and cyclic AMP action on extracellular-regulated kinase and cell proliferation in bone cells PMID: 11956184
  11. alterations in PI3K activity in response to parathyroid hormone with aging PMID: 12581861
  12. PTH or PTHrP can exert anabolic effects in the skeleton. PMID: 12631114
  13. that periosteal and endosteal osteoblastic cell populations exhibit metabolic differences in their extracellular matrix responses to PTH PMID: 14514685
  14. the parathyroid hormone-Smad3 axis may have a role in the bone anabolic action of PTH PMID: 14517210
  15. PTH and mechanical stimulation on trabecular bone formation rate suggest a potential benefit for combined PTH administration and exercise in the treatment of osteoporosis. PMID: 14672346
  16. Rho and Rho kinase are an important component of PTH signaling in osteoblastic cells PMID: 15476589
  17. Combinations of radioprotectors may achieve their beneficial additive effects in the growth plate by decreasing the usual early drop in parathyroid hormone-related protein and parathyroid hormone receptor 1 after irradiation PMID: 16494524
  18. Calcium, phosphate & uremia determine parathyroid hormone mRNA stability through binding of protective factors adenosine-uridine rich binding factor 1 & Up-stream of N-ras & recruitment of degradation complex that cleaves parathyroid hormone mRNA[review] PMID: 17565271
  19. FGF23 suppressed both parathyroid hormone (PTH) secretion and PTH gene expression PMID: 17992255
  20. IL-18 is regulated by parathyroid hormone and is required for its bone anabolic actions PMID: 18165223
  21. These data indicate a novel role for KSRP in parathyroid hormone gene expression. PMID: 18583400
