Target Background

Function
Required for the function of some acidic activation domains, which activate transcription from a distant site. The exact mechanism of action is not yet known. ADA2 stimulates the acetyltransferase activity of GCN5 on free histones or nucleosomes, probably by opening up the promoter region. Mediates auxin and cytokinin signals in the control of cell proliferation and might be involved in repression of a freezing tolerance pathway at warm temperature. Involved in the positive regulation of salt-induced gene expression by maintaining locus-specific acetylation of histones H4 and H3.
Gene References into Functions
  1. required, with GCN5, in leaves and trichomes to couple nuclear content with cell growth and morphogenesis PMID: 29846775
  2. ADA2b is required for the expression of genes involved in abiotic stress either by controlling H3 and H4 acetylation. PMID: 21897124
  3. The role of SGF29a and ADA2b in salt stress responses, was explored PMID: 21193996
  4. PRZ1 is involved in the modulation of histone modifications and corresponding adjustments in gene expression of KIP RELATED PROTEIN (KRP) CDK inhibitor genes in response to auxin. PMID: 20479223
Subcellular Location
Nucleus.
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in roots, leaves, stems, flowers and siliques, with the strongest activity in the meristematic zones.
