Description

The VCATH polyclonal antibody was generated by immunizing a rabbit with the recombinant Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus VCATH protein (113-323aa). Afterward, the VCATH antibody is obtained from the rabbit serum and subjected to purification using protein G. This particular VCATH antibody is well-suited for detecting the VCATH protein of Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus in ELISA and WB applications.

The main function of Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus (AcMNPV) VCATH protein is to inhibit the apoptosis of infected insect cells. VCATH protein acts as an anti-apoptotic factor and helps the virus establish a successful infection by preventing the death of the host cell.

Target Background

Function
Cysteine protease that plays an essential role in host liquefaction to facilitate horizontal transmission of the virus. Accumulates within infected cells as an inactive proenzyme (proV-CATH), which is activated by proteolytic cleavage upon cell death.
Gene References into Functions
  1. V-cath ORFS are expressed as pre-proenzymes. PMID: 19264635
Subcellular Location
Host endoplasmic reticulum.
