Description

To create the cry1Ia antibody, a rabbit is immunized with recombinant Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. Kurstaki pesticidal crystal protein cry1Ia (97-180aa), leading to the production of specific IgG antibodies by the rabbit's B lymphocytes. The polyclonal cry1Ia antibody is then purified meticulously from the rabbit's serum utilizing protein G techniques. This cry1Ia antibody is recommended for the detection of Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. Kurstaki cry1Ia protein in both ELISA and WB assays.

Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. Kurstaki Cry1Ia mainly acts as a pesticidal toxin, targeting and affecting the larvae of certain insect pests, particularly those of the Lepidoptera order. It does so by binding to specific receptors in the insect's midgut, ultimately leading to gut damage, disruption of feeding, and, consequently, the death of the insect larvae.
