Description

The cry1Ia polyclonal antibody is generated by immunizing a rabbit with recombinant Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki cry1Ia protein (97-180aa), stimulating an immune response within the rabbit that induces the production of specific antibodies in the rabbit's serum. Afterward, the cry1Ia antibody is purified through affinity chromatography, resulting in a highly specific cry1Ia antibody. It shows reactivity with Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki cry1Ia protein and is rigorously validated for its performance in ELISA and WB applications.

The main role of Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki cry1Ia protein is to act as an insecticidal toxin. The cry1Ia targets and affects the midgut of susceptible insect larvae. When ingested by the larvae, the Cry1Ia protein binds to specific receptors in the midgut lining, leading to pore formation in the cell membrane. This disrupts the integrity of the midgut epithelial cells, causing cell lysis and eventually leading to the death of the insect.
