Description

To produce the lprG polyclonal antibody, a rabbit can be immunized with the recombinant Mycobacterium tuberculosis lprG protein (27-236aa). Subsequently, the lprG antibody is extracted from the rabbit serum and purified using protein G. This particular lprG antibody is effective in identifying the lprG protein of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in ELISA and WB applications.

The LprG protein is a key player in the transport and metabolism of lipids in M. tuberculosis, contributing to the bacterium's ability to establish infection and evade host immune responses. LprG is known to interact with other proteins involved in lipid transport, such as LprA and LprF. Together, these proteins form a complex that facilitates the export of lipids from the cytoplasm to the outer membrane of the bacterium.

Target Background

Function
Probably helps membrane protein MT1454 (P55) transport triacylglycerides (TAG) across the inner cell membrane into the periplasm and probably ultimately to the outer membrane. TAG probably regulates lipid metabolism and growth regulation. Binds di- and triacylated phosphatidyl-myo-inositol mannosides (PIMs), and glycolipid lipoglycan modulins lipoarabinomannan (LAM) and lipomannan (LM), facilitating their recognition by TLR2. Required for activity of drug efflux transporter MT1454. Required, probably with MT1454, for normal surface localization of LAM.; Constitutes a host TLR2 agonist (toll-like receptor).
Subcellular Location
Cell inner membrane; Lipid-anchor. Secreted, cell wall. Secreted.
Protein Families
LppX/LprAFG lipoprotein family
