Description

The development of the mycothione reductase (mtr) polyclonal antibody involves a systematic procedure. It begins with the repeated immunization of a rabbit using recombinant mycobacterium tuberculosis mtr protein (1-459aa), continuing until the desired antibody titer is reached. Subsequently, the rabbit's blood is collected, and the antibodies are purified from the serum using protein A/G. The functionality of the resulting mtr antibody is rigorously evaluated through ELISA and WB applications, confirming its specific reactivity with the mcobacterium tuberculosis mtr protein.

Mycothione reductase (mtr) is responsible for maintaining mycothione in its reduced form, which is essential for protecting the bacterium from oxidative stress caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced by the host's immune system. By protecting the bacterium from oxidative stress, mtr contributes to Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb)'s ability to evade the host's immune defenses and establish long-term infections.
