Description

Polyclonal rabbit anti-omp38 antibody raised against a recombinant protein containing the 20-356 amino acids of the Acinetobacter baumannii omp38 is recommended to detect the Acinetobacter baumannii omp38 protein. This omp38 antibody was subjected to protein G purification. Two applications ELISA and WB have been used in assays to test for the specificity of this omp38 antibody.

The main function of Acinetobacter baumannii outer membrane protein omp38 is believed to play a role in the virulence and pathogenesis of Acinetobacter baumannii, a bacterium known for causing various infections in humans. Omp38 is thought to be involved in the outer membrane integrity and may contribute to the bacterium's ability to evade the host immune system.

Target Background

Function
Porin. Induces apoptosis in human cells through caspases-dependent and AIF-dependent pathways. Purified Omp38 enters the cells and localizes to the mitochondria, which leads to a release of proapoptotic molecules such as cytochrome c and AIF (apoptosis-inducing factor).
Subcellular Location
Cell outer membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.
Protein Families
OmpA family
