Substance P is an 11-amino acid neuropeptide belonging to the tachykinin family that functions as a neurotransmitter and neuromodulator in the central and peripheral nervous systems. It is primarily involved in pain transmission, inflammatory responses, and stress-related behaviors, binding to neurokinin-1 receptors to mediate its biological effects. Substance P plays important roles in nociception, neurogenic inflammation, and various physiological processes including gastrointestinal motility, respiratory function, and immune system modulation, making it a significant target for neurobiological and pain research studies.
The Human Substance P ELISA Kit (CSB-E08357h) is a quantitative sandwich immunoassay designed for measuring SP levels in human serum, plasma, and tissue homogenates. The assay offers a detection range of 6.25 pg/mL to 400 pg/mL with a sensitivity of 1.56 pg/mL, requiring 50-100 μL sample volume per well. The complete assay procedure takes 1-5 hours. Optical density measurements are performed at 450 nm wavelength.
