Precision
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%
Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess.
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%
Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.

Linearity
To assess the linearity of the assay, samples were spiked with high concentrations of rat SP in various matrices and diluted with the Sample Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.

Description

Substance P is an 11-amino acid neuropeptide belonging to the tachykinin family that functions as a neurotransmitter and neuromodulator in the central and peripheral nervous systems. It plays key roles in pain transmission, inflammation, and stress responses by binding to neurokinin-1 receptors. Substance P is widely distributed throughout the nervous system and is particularly concentrated in sensory neurons, where it mediates nociceptive signaling and contributes to neurogenic inflammation. Its involvement in various physiological processes makes it an important target for neuroscience research and therapeutic development.

The Rat Substance P ELISA Kit (CSB-E08358r) is designed for quantitative measurement of SP in rat samples using a sandwich assay principle. This kit works with multiple sample types including serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, and tissue homogenates with a detection range of 6.25-400 pg/mL and sensitivity of 1.56 pg/mL. The assay requires 50-100 μL sample volume, operates at 450 nm detection wavelength, and can be completed within 1-5 hours.

Application Examples

Note: The following application examples are drawn from a selection of publications citing this product. For additional applications, please refer to the full list of references in the "Citations" section.

This ELISA kit has been used in research examining neuropeptide signaling pathways and their roles in various physiological and pathological processes. Studies have applied the kit to quantify substance P levels in different biological matrices as part of comprehensive biomarker profiling approaches.

Bone metabolism research - Quantification of neuropeptide concentrations in bone tissue to examine the role of neural signaling in skeletal biology and bone homeostasis
Inflammatory response studies - Analysis of substance P levels in serum and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid alongside other inflammatory mediators to characterize cytokine and neuropeptide release patterns
Respiratory disease research - Measurement of neuropeptide concentrations in biological samples to evaluate inflammatory cascades and neural involvement in pulmonary conditions
Neuroinflammation profiling - Study of substance P as part of multi-analyte panels examining the intersection between nervous system signaling and inflammatory processes
